I've been running for 3 years. |
I started running because I was getting "muffin top" and wasn't feeling very good about it. |
If I could no longer run, I would bike. I actually mountain bike ride but running is my favorite. |
My favorite run is out at Rock Cut park especially in the winter when the trees are flocked with snow, it is so quiet and beautiful. I like the coolness of the air, the snow beneath my feet, and the only sounds are my breathing, the wind, and birds. It is easy to lose track of time out there. |
I like to run with my son and my husband. It is something we can do together as a family. |
My favorite thing to do after a hard workout is drink an ice cold beer. |
When I'm not running I like to do anything outside like working in my garden, biking, hiking, canoeing etc. |
I am inspired by the beauty of nature and all of God's creatures. |
An obstacle or challenge I’ve overcome with my running is the ability to think clearly about what is really important in life. Running really clears the mind and is very meditative for me. |
The local runner I most admire is my son Jake who lost 70 lbs 2 1/2 years ago when he began running. When he started he couldn't run down to the end of our street. |

His determination is inspiring to me; he recently ran the Boston marathon in 2:57:01. He has set goals for himself and is going to run a marathon in every state. As for a female runner it would have to be Olivia Aranda. I have watched her run for several years now and am so impressed; I would give anything to be able to run as fast as her. |
To push myself on a run, I talk to myself, tell myself to keep calm, to enjoy the run, slow my breathing. |
My greatest running accomplishment is running the New Orleans half marathon. I shouldn't have run it because I was injured but my son was running the full marathon and we had planned it for a long time so I just prayed, taped my knees up really good and ran. It was painful but worth it to spend time with my son. |
My next goal is to run the Bix 7. I will be running it Saturday July 24th with my son Jake. It is suppose to be a very difficult run because it is extremely hilly. Jake ran it last year and said it was a very challenging race. He is going to try to beat his time from last year. This will be my first year running it so I don't plan on setting any records, haha! |
My advice to other runners is to enjoy the run! Encourage others to run. I have quite a few people ask me how I stay in shape and when I tell them I run, most of them immediately say that they can't run, that it hurts. I always tell people that it is really important to start off slow and to buy a good pair of running shoes. A lot of people will just throw on a pair of tennis shoes and try to run a couple of miles and then wake up the next day sore and miserable. |
I plan to run until I die or my legs fall off :) |
