I've been running for 2 1/2 years. |
I started running because I wanted to lose weight and feel better about myself. |
If I could no longer run, I would ride my bike, go kayaking, and swim. |
My favorite run is through Lake Murphysboro State Park in Murphysboro, IL. It's all the way down south, but it is really hilly and there are tons of animals out there. I've seen snakes, eagles, some horses, and deer. I run out there when I want to get away from people and run in solitude. |
My favorite Rockford race is the Rockford Marathon. |

I like to run with no one else. I have a friend that I run with occasionally in Carbondale, but I run to get away from all the distractions in my life. Except when I'm racing, then I run to set a new PR for myself and hopefully win. |
My favorite thing to do after a hard workout is eat. |
When I'm not running I like to listen to Morrissey and ride my bike. |
The local runners I most admire are my parents Lee and Cindy. My mom has been running for a while, but my dad started a few months ago and has gotten better and better. He's done a few races already and I'm trying to get him to do the Bix 7 with me and my mom next year. |
To push myself on a run, I never think to far ahead. I set up mental checkpoints on while I'm training and never think past the next checkpoint. I also reward myself by having an easy run the next day if I run really fast and hard. |

My next goal is to run a lot more marathons. I've already done 5 and I have a few more lined up this year. |
My advice to other runners is: you can always find time to run if you really want to! |
I plan to run until it stops being fun for me. Which I can't see happening anytime soon. |
